Mirage Town was first formed by its leader Amir Badamchi in 2005 when he started to form a serious band which he has gone a long way through to reach it. The most important point in MIRAGE TOWN is the genre which it has been chosen for it and it is the former Iranian Alternative Metal music band (goroohe moosighi). Mirage Town (Dehakadeye Sarab - دهکده سراب) is the first band in Iran which brings the Persian (Farsi) Alternative Metal genre and the song "Harfe Man" is an introduction of this band's genre. They have also released a song Wasted Man which its idea comes from an older time and so it is similar to old heavy tracks. The other point to be mentioned is about the improvement of this band in quality, it has perfect pieces of guitars and nice solos with powerful vocals. They are now recording their debut album in Tehran.
Their indie debut Album Mirage Town includes both English and especially Persian (Farsi) tracks. As Iranian government has banned some music genres such as rock, punk, ... and these are considered as illegal music and there has to be no performances in public, many artists (goroohha) in Iran didn't stop trying and they - as indie (independent) label or unsigned groups - have participated in underground festivals (zirzamini) and movements such as TAMF (Tehran Avenue Music Festival); Father song was a successful track and brought some interviews. No need to say that the improvement of these efforts which brought a new brand Farsi genre (sabke jadide moosighi dar Iraan - Farsi Rock - راک فارسی) was incredible. The three members, amir badamchi guitarist and vocal (singer ya khanandeh - خواننده), guitarist Nima Najm and Bassist Sepand Sirous Kabiri try to get high international rankings and bring up the level of current Faarsi genre's situation. The lyrics are daily simple thoughts of members and tried to be no complication in them such as dark lyrics. The setting for this genre is 'Nu Metal' but the national root is Iran. Playing rock music there is a scary occupation as not only is it frowned upon by many -in much the same way as Irelands culturally explosive rock cornerstone was when they emerged in 1970 (see our rock cornerstone page to see why) but, occasionally in Iran, it could also mean losing your liberty - (which was once the case for many rock musicians under general Franco's Spain in the not so distant past). Despite the risks many musicians and bands are raising their heads above the cultural parapet (Meera being the most well known). This particular musician is running along the top of it, proud of his ancestral roots and singing in both Farsi (Persian) and English. A few thousand years ago - before Alexander trounced it- Persia, or Iran, was once the worlds original cultural melting pot and centre of free speech and religious tolerance. This is something Iranians are very proud of in spite of the current 'Axis of evil' labelism yet many musicians loyal to their roots can only freely exercise their creative abilities by leaving the country. This guitarist is one of those who has chosen to remain and his abilities are at times comparable to and equal to Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour (listen to the sample of the 'Wasted Man' track to judge for yourself on his site below) - so don't be blinkered by the Nu Metal 'tag' this 23 year old is a real pro destined -we think- for great things. His name is Amir Badamchi - founder of Mirage town and currently in the middle of recording his debut album in Tehran. His site is a flyer - but with some excellent sound samples. (12th August 2007) MIRAGE TOWN on Radio Station Radio Zirzamin/live365.com We are broadcasting the Iranian music from the dark side of the Zirzamin (Underground) of Iran , we open our radio to up and coming underground and independent bands, to get their music out onto the airwaves. Radio zirzamin Iranian underground and alternative music radio (24th July 2006) Zirzamin’s Buzz Worthy Artist Amir Badamchi was born in Tehran, 8 Nov 1984. It's about three years that he plays electric guitar and had no teachers; however he was playing classic guitar for three years before that. Through these years, because of his great interest in Rock music, he was always thinking of an independent band. However two semi-professional bands were formed by him and some of his friends, but they never had the desired results of his own thoughts. Then he decided to form a rock band called MIRAGE. Mirage is a serious band that is always looking for reaching up to the professional level in music. Nima Najm is the only member in this band who has been with Amir from the beginning. Nima does the rhythm guitar and some lyrics; Amir does the vocals, music arrangement, solo and rhythm guitar in some tracks, bass and also some lyrics. He says; The most important involvement for MIRAGE is about choosing its sub-genre from Rock and Metal, and this is improving day by day as we have experienced almost every styles. We think that it is time to end up the 80's Rock in Iran; "The Nu Metal has come". (8th November 2005) Review and commentary on Tehran Avenue Music Festival “TAMF” An independent music festival or a commercial competition When I first heard that Tehran Avenue is coming up with a new music festival (TAMF) I was really impressed with the news; however, when I heard all the songs, including the ones that didn't make it to the final phase of the competition, I found the musical content of the songs inside the final cut rather lower than the ones that didn't make it, in fact in my opinion as one of the artists that also took part in TAMF I found the material left outside much richer in lyrical and instrumental content. Since no one can claim 100% objectivity, when I heard that there is going to be selection on the songs that will make it to the competition, immediately I thought of any kind of selection as a censorship upon the participants that took part and made an effort to come up with a track for this competition. I found this selection, however systematic it may have been, an unfair way of filtering material that may have had a more specific and small audience. With all this said rock tracks such as: - Mirage (Father) Whom almost all have much better lyrical content, use of musical elements and more innovative rhythm changes and much nicer vocals were all left out because of more silent mix-downs, or the fact that the committee haven't really heard rock music's hay day of the 70's, when the idealistic people of the day stretched it to boundaries not imaginable in today's rock music. It is also very unfortunate that the rock musicians in Iran have almost all only listened to Pink Floyd and Metal and punk bands or "Satriani" exhibitionistic instrumental guitar oriented music. download persian mp3 song
